The article studies the genesis of the «Novy Zhurnal» publication form: structure, history, authors, editors, and editorial board, as well as the characteristic features of the emergence of Russian-language media in America on the example of the «Novy Zhurnal» publication. The topics and materials of the " Novy Zhurnal " are investigated in the context of the history of the emergence of the Russian-language press in the United States. The author formulates the role of a thick literary magazine in the framework of the Russian-language emigration press. MEN'S IMAGES IN THE CYCLE OF TALES "EVENINGS ON A FARM CLOSE DIKANKA" N.V. GOGOL
Petrozavodsk State University, academy@petrsu.ruAnnotation: The work is devoted to the analysis of male images in the cycle of stories "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka". The author puts forward a hypothesis about the non-random choice of male protagonists. In addition, the author proves the assumption that some of the stories are connected with the European romantic tradition. In this regard, the comparative - historical method and gender approach are used as the main methods. The relevance of the work lies in the consideration of the Orthodox aspect in the analysis of stories. On the basis of the study, it can be concluded that it is the male characters that are the carriers of the main features for the disclosure of the plot. The author comes to the conclusion that the image of Sergius of Radonezh in the story of IS Shmelev is shown in a new context, in the spirit of a simple, natural attitude to the saint as to an ordinary person. THE IMAGE OF THE AUTHOR IN EDITOR'S RUBRIC "NEW AMERICAN" NEWSPAPER
PetrSU, moshnickova.darya@gmail.comAnnotation: The article examines the materials of the newspaper "New American" under the rubric of Sergei Dovlatov "Editor's Column". The author identifies the reasons for emigration to New York in 1987 and the history of the opening of the weekly newspaper. Based on the materials of the author's column "Editor's Column", an analysis of the journalism of Sergei Dovlatov is carried out. A new classification of headings and the specificity of the author's image has been established.
The author proposes a classification of all texts based on stylistic characteristics and method of narration - editorial, artistic, and artistic and journalistic. The classification is based on the plot of the text and the identification of the author's image: journalist or layman, observer, or character. FEATURES OF DECADENCE IN THE EARLY WORK OF V.YA BRYUSOV
Petrozavodsk State University, academy@petrsu.ruAnnotation: The work is devoted to the problem of decadence in the early works of V. Ya. Bryusov. The author focuses on the definition of the term "decadence" and analyzes the relationship of this phenomenon with Russian literature. In this regard, the method of comparative-comparative analysis of the original works of V. Ya. Bryusov with his translations of poems by French poets of 1830-1900 was applied. Based on the research conducted, we can conclude that the earlier work of the Russian writer includes all the features of decadence (replacement of mysticism with hoaxes, transformation of religious experience into aesthetic, interest in the magical, glorification of sin in all its manifestations as the most obvious manifestation of "too human" to eroticism, a special emotional and psychological make-up of the soul: the crisis of consciousness, a feeling of general ill-being, the lack of clear guidelines and connections with reality, individualism). Information from the history of French literature as fundamental for the development of Bryusov's work is presented. Key words: V. Ya.
